Sniffer4D For Mining Dust Monitoring
In November 2020, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) applied the drone-mounted Sniffer4D multi-gas detection system to the research on dust detection. The detection was conducted above the open mining area of ChinaCoal Pingshuo Group Co., Ltd with around 10 million square meters in Anjialing.
The drone carried Sniffer4D V1 and conducted the dust detection above the open mining area in Anjialing.
According to the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations of Shanxi Province, the research team from the China University of Mining and Technology conducted a study on the open mining area of ChinaCoal Pingshuo Group Co., Ltd. in Anjialing. The purpose of this research was to find out whether the particulates generated by mining operations in the north of Shuozhou city would have an impact on residential areas in the south. And the drone-mounted Sniffer4D multi-gas detection system was applied in the detection.

High-efficient detection has stunned all around
In the past, mining detection was conducted through the combination of manual hand-held detection and regular spot detection, this traditional detection method could only detect PM2.5 and PM10. Due to the large mining area and the complex terrain, it takes a long time and a high cost to detect with hand-held devices or from a high altitude. And due to the uncertain risk like mining subsidence, there is also danger to personal safety for the workers who go deeply into the mining area. The integration of Sniffer4D and the drone can sense up to 9 gas and particulate concentrations at the same time, including the regular ones in environmental monitoring (PM2.5, PM10, SO2, CO, NO2, O3, VOCs) and others like H2S, NH3, HCL, TSP, the modules can be set according to the users' needs. The integration provides the remote and BVR detection for the crew to operate the drone to detect the designated location, allowing them to stay far away from the mining area to make sure of their personal safety. The analytical software Sniffer4D can achieve the data transmission within seconds and help the crew plan the next detection route through the gas concentration distributions.

Visualized data helps save time and energy
While the integration of Sniffer4D and drone is conducting the detection with high efficiency, the analytical software Sniffer4D Mapper is generating the 2D grid map, the 2D isoline map and the 3D point cloud map of the real-time pollution data. The 2D grid map can intuitively indicate the different gas concentration distributions in the detected area; the 2D isoline map can reveal the pollution direction and its scope by combining with the local meteorological characteristics; the 3D point cloud map can clearly show the pollution distributions at different altitude and quickly locate the pollution sources. Anyway, the three presentations of visualized data can be displayed on multiple ends, which helps to show the 3D pollution distributions at a glance and provides beneficial evidence for decision-making.

The integration of Sniffer4D multi-gas detection system and drone has done an excellent job in the detecting mission.
